Teaching & Mentoring: Guiding Others Back to Themselves
The profound responsibility and joy of guiding others on their Aikido journey, helping them discover not just techniques, but their true selves.

I had the honor of training for most of my life under Shihan Florentin Marinescu, one of Romania’s greatest physical trainers.
In the 1980s, Florentin Marinescu was the physical trainer of the legendary Steaua Bucharest football team, the team that won the European Champions Cup after the historic final in Seville against Barcelona.
Through his mentorship, I learned traditional, highly effective methods of strength, coordination, and explosive power development — techniques rarely practiced today — and I continue his philosophy of creating disciplined, balanced, and mentally strong athletes.

The profound responsibility and joy of guiding others on their Aikido journey, helping them discover not just techniques, but their true selves.

After years of searching elsewhere, the journey back to Aikido and the rediscovery of what I had been missing all along.

The wilderness years when I left Aikido behind, convinced I needed something more "practical," and what I learned in the searching.

There wasn't a magic moment. No sudden epiphany. Just a quiet pause in a noisy day… and the familiar smell of the mat.
